  • Our Vision for Green Inner City Foundations

Since the launch of the Shanghai ICE office in 2011 our team has worked very hard at introducing not just new products but actually introducing the new construction methodologies that our equipment enable. Selling directly to end-users and not through dealers has allowed us to be very close to the market and serve our customers’ needs very directly. Some of these methods address pressing environmental needs others bring major efficiency benefits to our clients.

We are especially proud of our cooperation with Shanghai Highway Invest a group with whom we share a common vision for Shanghai. Together with Shanghai Highway Invest we brought down the use of bentonite and concrete in Shanghai by propagating steel casings instead of bored piles for elevated highway construction; and sheet pile combi wall solutions for temporary shoring. Sheet pile combi walls combine interlocked casings and sheet piles for increased earth retaining capacity and allow for deeper excavation than standard sheet pile walls (up to 20 meters) and are a good alternative to diaphragm walls. Sheet piles can be re-used require much less construction time and therefore cause less disturbance to urbanites living close to the building site. ICE’s resonance free technology enables the driving of foundation piles without vibration disturbance to the environment and with minimal soil compaction displacement to adjacent foundations. The combination of Resonance Free vibratory hammers and sheet piles have opened revolutionary new possibilities for greener city construction.

The elimination of bentonite for the project also means thousands of fewer earth moving truck movements through the city reducing exhaust gasses (including PM 2.5) and muddy trails on the roads. No bentonite used also means no bentonite washed into river and waterways around shanghai from run-off from deposit sites or due to illegal dumping into rivers.

As a company we have also made strides in other fields such as SMW concrete sheet piles bore pile technology and of course offshore applications.

In 2014 in Cuxhaven Germany we participated in a head-to-head offshore test with impact hammering to register lateral bearing capacity driving times noise levels and pile fatigue for mono-piles. The results of this test are discussed under the projects TAB of this website.

Every week we make application reports available through the ICE sponsored WeChat Piling Group. I would like to encourage you to sign-up to keep up with the latest industry news or to regularly visit our website to view the latest job reports and videos. Information on our website is categorized in application portals where relevant video’s specs and project experience can all be found together on one page. View over 15 videos read more than 60 project reports and look-up specs on our mobile or PC website. I hope to keep connected to you in one way or another and look forward to building a business relationship with you and your company!
