Reducing conflict with other users of the urban space
The first excavator mounted RF hammer is installed in China

Sino Hydro won a bid to clean up and upgrade Shenzhen’s Mao River basin. This key project requires the driving of a total of 220.000 meter length of sheet piles to lay new a sewage system. The sewage pipes run along both sides of the road, often close to houses, sheet pile cofferdams are needed to safeguard the excavation work. 9 and 12m long sheet piles have been specified for the project. The project must be completed within 33 months. Reliable equipment is the key to completing the project within this tight time frame. As a large part of the project is near buildings, the client chose resonance free technology, alternative solutions like the silent piler could not match the high daily production rate of an excavator piling machine solution. The ICE 8RFSH that was installed is the first swivel model hammer to be used in China.

RF technology allows a vibratory hammer to work adjacent to brick and wood houses, the high frequency of the eccentric weights ensure no damage occurs. This mature technology was developed over 20 years ago and over the last five years has seen rapid acceptance in China too. RF technology has contributed to the introduction of new construction methods much higher efficiency and reduced labor cost. The technology has proven to earn customers excellent returns on their capital investment.

We all like our personal space but in today’s mega-cities we can't help but get into each other’s way. The RF hammer allows you to come right up to adjacent structures without causing irritation.

As Chinese cities expand and absorb ever more people from the countryside, urban construction issues become ever more pressing. As land price soar and underground space is being utilized for utilities and metro, the footprint of a construction site has to be miniaturized. Under these conditions shallow excavations are best carried out with 6 or 9m long sheet piles, choosing an RF hammer to complete the job reduces conflict with other users of the urban space. RF hammers can work right up to existing walls and at up to 1 m distance of buried pipes and cables.

Compared to competitive hammers in its class the 8RFSH is compact and lightweight. Workmanship and quality of parts are far superior. The swivel function increases working speed as the hammer can pick sheet piles from a stack and lift them into driving position. The unique resonance free function has very noticeable results, there is no resonance disturbance during start-up and shut-down of the hammer as with regular vibratory hammers. We believe the resonance free hammer will play a large role in the urbanization process of China.
