  • New generation vibro’s brings upending, underwater operation and verticality benefits

After positive experience with their first unit at Binhai, a second 250NF joins the fleet of Huaxi Offshore Engineering, to be deployed on their massive Huaxi 5000 vessel currently installing monopiles in Guangdong Province, close to the city of Yangjiang. Huaxi 5000 is one of the largest vessels in the market, its sheer size makes it a very stable working platform. The 5000t crane can hoist the largest monopiles, and its 900t auxiliary hook is ideal for working with the 250NF hammer driving and extracting the legs of their floating mono-pile positioning frame.

The legs of the floating pile positioning frame that Huaxi has designed are 2.2 meters in diameter, 94 meters in length, they are driven 16-22 meters into the mud until the working pressure reached 200 bar and the piles are deemed stable. The driving time of each pile is about 15 minutes. The floating positioning frame reminds us of a jack-up barge, with the legs up it can be floated to a next work position. The frame is suitable to hold large monopiles and equipped with hydraulics jacks to adjust the position and the verticality of the pile.

The ICE 250NF has 536 tons eccentric force and is powered by a 1536 horsepower 1600 power pack. The static line pull has been increased from 227t to 364 tons allowing it to pull heavier loads. The 250NF is equipped with 350TC double clamp with clamping force of 700 tons. The increase in line pull of the 250NF reduces the amplitude of the hammer, but for offshore extraction jobs it is a good choice, because the increased line pull capacity of the hammer allows it to be used in in rougher seas where sudden movements can add a lot of extra forces on the hammer.

The first-generation large hammer to be used in China's wind farm construction in 2010 was the ICE 200M vibro. Now the new generation of modularly designed 250NF are recognized as great value. The modular design allows the hammer to be easily upgraded to 500NF, 1000NF, 1500NF all the way up to a Giant 3000. This allows our users to expand the scope of use at the same time avoid the risk of buying the wrong equipment.

The price of the 250NF is made up of two parts, the cost price and the usage price. The ICE 250NF includes a lot of additional features (cooling, underwater operation, smart power pack) that are beneficial to our users and these features are understandably reflected in the cost price. You’re welcome to contact us for a quotation to understand the cost price! The cost of usage of the 250NF is probably more attractive than you would expect, let us explain below:

l  ICE equipment is designed for durability which means a lifetime of 20-30 years is not unheard of. The equipment is future proof for upgrades that include upending, subsea operation, and use in a tandem or Giant.

l  The equipment is compact and can be easily transported without disassembling on two flatbed trucks.

l  The equipment is fitted with idle timer to save diesel and reduce maintenance cost

l  We offer a verticality sensor that provides real time information about the verticality of our piles. This sensor is mounted on the hammer and can transmit data through blue tooth to the operator on board of the vessel.

l  Underwater work: The hammer can be operated under water. The equipment is fitted with underwater seals and comes with a connection for an air compressor to keep the gearbox pressurized for jobs hundreds of meters under water.

The ICE 250NF has limited rental availably, but we are happy to announce the imminent arrival of a number of new 250NF hammers to Shanghai that are available for purchase. If you, just like Huaxi, would like to enjoy the benefits of working with the ICE 250NF you have an opportunity to reserve one of the new units.
